What Our Guests Say
What an incredible place it is
“We have just returned from a week in your amazing lighthouse with our 3 adult children. What an incredible place it is! We had a fantastic time and will certainly return in the future hopefully. We were entertained on our last night by a pod of dolphins who swam past during dinner en route to Crookhaven. Words cannot describe it adequately. You have thought of every little detail in both buildings – there was nothing we lacked. Many thanks for entrusting us with this treasure for our holiday.”

Five star holiday
“This property and its location actually exceeds the pictures and description online; it is a spectacular venue in and out and I would love to go back! It has everything you might require for home from home comforts, the views of and exposure to the sea are second to none. The lighthouse fills the West wing window and the sunrise the East. It’s a special place without a doubt.”

Special and beautiful place, amazing location and house, unforgettable family holiday
“This house and its stunning location blew us away!! It’s bright, warm, cosy and spacious, a beautiful piece of architecture, not to mention the fabulous views!! It was like being on a ship, surrounded by the ocean and the soothing sounds of the waves crashing against the rocks below. Everything you could need was there! A fantastic location with great beaches and villages nearby, locals so friendly. Had the most delicious and fresh crab sandwiches in Crookhaven in O’Sullivan’s bar! Overall an unforgettable few days with family, so much so we booked our next visit the day we got home!! If anyone is thinking of booking? just do it and go! you will not be disappointed!”

Perfect
“We spent a really enjoyable break over Christmas with my sister’s family and parents who live on the other side of the harbour who joined us for Christmas celebrations. Thank you for the Christmas decorations you added. The accommodation split over the two lighthouse keepers cottages suited us very well as our older independent children had their own space. The location is stunning, the views inspirational and the house is cosy, stylish and was very well equipped for our needs, even the walled single lane track from the main road revealed a stunning view at every turn. Plenty to do here in winter. Who wouldn’t enjoy relaxing, playing board games, reading, walking (Brow Head, Barleycove beach, Three Castles Head pier, the old mountain road to Goleen) watching the wild life and whiling away time in pubs. We all wished we could have had more time at the lighthouse but even so, our short stay was very recuperative. A car is a must. Thank you for letting us stay.”

Bow of the Ship
“I have been hesitant to write this review as the more people who know about this incredible place the less chance I might have to rent it again, but since we are unfortunately not returning this year I can let go. This place is truly one of a kind. We kept saying that we felt like we were staying on the bow of a ship as it plied the oceans. The owners and caretakers were delightful, the glass house is surreal, the surrounding landscape makes you never want to leave, the town and people of Crookhaven and surrounds were delightful. We met and shared drinks with lovely, charming and intelligent homeowners nearby that made us feel comfortable and welcome in their world – an architect, doctors, and movie set designers. When we got there, Ireland was experiencing a 50 year rainfall event – no problem, we just snuggled up in our glass house (floor to ceiling glass on 3 and 1/2 sides, incredible) and put some DVD’s in the player and enjoyed the rain. We explored the surrounding areas and were constantly in a state of awe – our favorite place being Three Castle Head where we went three times with different sets of guests. If you are looking for the vacation of a lifetime, this is the place. Please, just don’t tell too many people…as we would like to return.”

Breathtaking Panorama
“We spent one fantastic week in family (2 adults, 3 children). The cottage as well as the longhouse are really confortable. All the equipments were functionnal. If you like quiet and rare places, you will enjoy your stay. The sea/landscapes around are wild and beautiful. If you are lucky and not afraid of some exercise, try to approach some seals… I could spend hours to tell you how wonderful is the place but words aren’t strong enough. Come and see. For us, we will return.”

Outstanding Property
“This property was exactly as portrayed on the site and more. The views are breathtaking and up there with the birds. The apartment was clean, modern, tastefully and thoughtfully decorated and the position was extremely quiet and private. The only other people we saw was an odd fisherman on the rocks far below or in a boat. The location was brilliant and handy to all the sights we wished to see and visit. We did a lot of hiking around the scenic heads and cliffs and took picnic lunches on most days although there are plenty of places to get a feed. The little nearby village of Goleen had everything we needed and a very good Visitor’s Centre. I would very highly recommend this property and thank the owners for sharing their little piece of Irish paradise with us.”

Everything we Expected
“Thank you so much for opening this lovely property up and sharing it with renters such as myself! My friends and I just got back from our first trip to Ireland and we could not have been happier with our stay in Goleen. The house was just as the other reviews states: WONDERFUL! We have been looking forward to this visit to the lighthouse for so long and we were not disappointed. Angelique was very helpful with everything we needed. Everything about the property was so peaceful and we felt at home immediately. I personally enjoyed waking up before anyone else and enjoying a cup of tea while looking out over the beautiful ocean. It was just what this busy girl needed in a vacation away with her buddies and I cannot thank you enough! I plan on visiting Ireland again and I would stay at your lovely lighthouse again in a heartbeat! Thanks again!”

From Carnival to Tranquility
“We arrived to the Ireland just at the St Patricks day and had an opportunity to dive in to the famous carnival right away. After party, weather blessed us with unexpected sunny and warm days, which we used to hike around absolutely beautiful surroundings of Crookhaven and Mizen Head. In the evenings we enjoyed the stunning scenery with the Famous Irish products (mainly whisky and Murphy’s) sitting by a fireplace and watching the Atlantic trying to blast our warm nest away. Not succeeded though. More than our money’s worth. Strongly recommended. Irish people are warm and friendly. Don’t forget to check this out in O’Sullivans.”

Trip of a Lifetime
“This is my second review for this beautiful place. My wife and I spent a week here last June and made our plans to return this year one week after we got home. But this time we brought both sets of our parents and our seven-year-old boy. We just had to have them experience such an unbelievably beautiful and relaxing place for themselves. They were in just as much awe upon arrival as we were the year before. It is truly difficult to put into words the magic of this wonderful, wonderful place. Not only are the physical structures amazing but the setting as a whole is nothing short of breathtaking. I feel a peace and calmness when I’m here that I’ve never experienced anywhere else. We spent glorious week fishing, hiking, touring, and just “being.” Our crew bonded and enjoyed the splendor of West Cork and all it had to offer. It is a vacation that we will all treasure for the rest of our lives. My son was truly sad to leave (as were we all). Can’t wait to return next year. Thank you so much for making this place possible and available for those so lucky to visit.”

Warning: This is going to be very cheesy!
“Just as daylight broke over the stunning West Cork seascape, and surrounded by rose petals and candles, I asked my girlfriend of 12 years to marry me in the Long House. Thankfully Jane accepted and I could nearly swear that beautiful, old lighthouse light was winking at me in approval. We spent three days in blissful solitude and then had both our families stay for two nights which was an incredible time that will remain forever in our hearts. If you like howling wind and absolute silence, playing board games which nobody cares about winning, warm open fires and cold pints of Guinness, spending countless hours watching seals, dolphins, seagulls and gannets hunt for their dinner while you are contently full from the delicious seafood served in O’Sullivan’s bar in Crookhaven then this special little place is for you. Crookhaven Lighthouse has illumintaed the rugged West Cork coastline since the early 1800’s but will illuminate your soul for eternity! (I warned you it was cheesy!)”

Lighthouse Accommodation
"Dreaming of ocean views? Your wish is easily fulfilled on this island nation, where cows and sheep outnumber people along the stunning, undeveloped coastline. Topping the list: the luxurious lighthouse in the southern village of Crookhaven — complete with floor-to-ceiling windows revealing the Atlantic’s hypnotic blue waves.” U.S Airways Magazine, January 2012
