WHAT OUR GUESTS SAY .....
(and more here)
'We couldn’t have hoped for a better place to stay – and in the company of gannets! We have enjoyed exploring and discovering – and our experience of Rock Island and the area has been all the more enjoyable thanks to your collection of books about West Cork
We have been delighted with everything about the house and think it’s design completely fits into, and fully exploits it’s wonderful position.
We will be back. Thank you'

'Thanks you for the gift of this beautiful place to stay. Nourished the mind and the soul. Great fun, great companionship and laughter shared here with the sea, moon, stars and Fastnet beaming in at us.
Fantastic memories of days shared and spent together. A truly magical spot.
Thank you for sharing it with us.'

'Looking out on the constantly changing sea, the crashing waves, the miraculous colours, exploring magical places and finding the goats path, “cnoc na phuca”, the coastal drive. We have listened to Mums fabulous memories of living here before radio or electricity, or tarred roads, when letters were written and received every day. Barleycove brought such joyful memories, as did the rock-pooling , of my childhood summers. Mum says it has been the best holiday of her life! Thank you so much for a wonderful happy uplifting, grounding and light-filled experience.
'Eating in the Longhouse looking over the sea and listening to the sound of the sea is something I will cherish forever. Likewise turning out the lights and looking at the stars was lovely.
All in all, a heavenly place and we leave with great memories.
'Everything has been superb in this heavenly place and my soul has had enough nourishment for all time
'A perfect place for relaxation, sea views, birds, marine wildlife.
Hope to come back!
(special thanks to Aidan & Angelique for the easy way of booking and all arrangements!'

'A week –well, 4 days – at the sea in March conjures up pictures of cold, rain etc. – Not here.
It has been the most beautiful few days. The weather was marvellous, the tides, the house, everything was really marvellous, A great time of relaxation and of exploring the surrounding area. Also despite all the changes that here occurred, the old lighthouse tradition is still present and will not be forgotten.'
'Our second Christmas in this beautiful place, this time shared with our friend from Denmark. A trial arriving in the snow – we had to abandon the car 800 yards away from the house. We trekked with essentials (toothbrush, wine and friendship) and arrived happy to be he here once again.
We have enjoyed the scenery (dolphins again!) and the local hospitality, including our new friends from Frankfurt.
We have spent our last day trying to think of ways we can stay here – I guess every visitor does the same. So, don’t be surprised if, in the future, you come across me (selling jumpers and cakes) and my husband (trying to make a living by fishing/diy/painting). We would do anything to stay in this very special community'

'A fabulous long weekend was had by all, Sophie Hamish, Greg, Joe, the virgin visitor Trev and of course ‘the shareholder’ himself D.O.D.
Much food, wine and cheese was consumed….. a little too much mince in some people’s opinions… and a fabulous time was had by all. We even spotted dolphins,
We’ll be back!'
'Had such a wonderful stay in Crookhaven, walks on the beach, fresh seafood, horse riding (Schull Equestrian Centre), trip to Mizen Head.
But the most spectacular thing of all was this gorgeous house with stunning views, Breath taking views
The balcony overlooking the ocean with views you can’t believe.
The perfect place to be proposed to – somewhere I will remember and keep close to my heart forever.'
Sarah and Niall.
'We arrived in a storm that nearly blew us away, we spent the 31st walking in rain, had champagne under the moonlight on the 31st and woke up to dolphins and sun on the 1st. The best way to end 2009 and to start 2010. We will be back.
To all those who enjoy this fantastic place after us: Enjoy'

'This is an amazing place! I love the view of the sea, I had great fun here. It also has a great spot for fishing nearby. We caught a Pollock and ate it for dinner. IT was lovely. I had so much fun. Thanks'

‘A most relaxing holiday.- a quote from my favourite mother-in-law
Enjoyed watching the sailboats going by every morning. It is a wonderful oasis of seagulls and sea breezes which we thoroughly enjoyed. We would love to come back. Thank you
for a beautiful location to enjoy. Thanks you for all the lovely extra, thoughtful touches.
Fiona (age 6) loved the smell of the sea and the seagulls who came to visit us. Their names were Skinny and Fatty. I loved the ripe blackberries on the pathway to the rubbish
